Even though we review each Sitch user’s application, it’s important to always think of your personal safety when meeting anyone in the real world.
Skip the oversharing early on. No home address, work location, or routines (“I always go to X café at 7am”). Do not share information about your kids, if you have any, or any information about other peoples’ kids for that matter!
Keep chatting inside the app until you actually trust the person. Scammers often push for WhatsApp, text, or Instagram to dodge moderation.
Tap the Report User menu on Sitch if anyone:
No matter how good the story sounds, don’t send money, gift cards, crypto, or financial details. Ever. If someone asks, stop and report it. Scammers prey on emotion and urgency — both are red flags.
Meet in public places only for the first few dates. Bars, cafés, parks — anywhere with people around. Never at your or their home until you’re truly comfortable.
Share your plans: who you’re meeting, where, and when. Text your friend when you get home safely.
If something feels off — it probably is. End the date. Ask for help if you need it (bartenders are often trained for this). You owe no one an explanation for leaving.
Order your own, keep it in sight. Don’t accept drinks you didn’t see poured.
It’s never your fault if someone crosses a line. There are confidential resources ready to help 24/7. If you need help, contact the following organizations:
